Something that took place in school

28 January 2011

It is a Friday today and I have nothing in particular that i want to write about, so I think i'll share about what happened today. Let me paint the picture for you. It was in my classroom, 2A, during english period. We were instructed to do the summary section of a comprehension and as usual, we did not do it quietly, but noisily. Suddenly, we heard the ringtone of a handphone and we were wondering where it came from. after a few seconds, eyes started to point in the right direction. It was a guy named Jing Yuan.

Jing Yuan excelled in all academic areas and he was those type of students who would never ever cause trouble to teachers. During lessons, he was quite well behaved, attentive and he asked alot of intelligent questions. He also knew most answers to questions the teachers gave. So as you can see, he DOES NOT cause trouble.

This time, however, we realised that the ringtone came from him and we were shocked that he would on his handphone during lesson time and he did not put it on silent mode. Our teacher actually wanted to let him off due to his good conduct during the past lessons, but, our class felt that it was not fair. Previously, we had another classmate who got caught with his phone on during lesson and his phone was sent to Mr Chia for a month. His parents had to write a letter in order for him to get his phone back but it was ordered that he put his phone at home. So, our class protested until the teacher decided to take his phone away.

Im glad that Jing Yuan had his punishment but i also wish it will not be too heavy. I think my class had a big part to play in confiscating his handphone beacause without our protesting, his phone will not be taken away. I am amazed at the unity of my class. I hope that teachers will treat us fairly regardless of grades in future.

A moment spent alone doing something you enjoyed

27 January 2011

It has been a really tiring day. I came back from my run, feeling very tired. The first thing I did was to lie on my bed. After resting for a while, I ate dinner, then I started thinking about what to do next. The answer came to me very quickly. "Why don't I play Wolfteam?" I thought. Wolfteam is a very popular first-person-shooting(FPS) game which me and some of my classmates love. Immediately, I switched on the computer and clicked on the game Wolfteam.

The 30 seconds which I had to wait for the game to load seemed like 30mins. I was really impatient and excited about playing the game as I was too busy to played it for the past few days. I played the game for two hours straight. Although my score this time was not so good, I enjoyed it.

Wolfteam is a really fun game and it is more exciting compared to other first-person-shooting game because it has an additional character - Wolf. When you are using a wolf, it is not from a first person view but it is from a third person view and that is very cool. There are different types of wolves too. There are basic wolf, ice wolf, guardian wolf, berserker wolf, physco wolf, smart wolf, power wolf, ghost wolf, ghost wolf 2, and lusian wolf. My favourite is the ice and berserker wolf as ice wolf can slow down people's moves and block a little of their view and berserker wolf can do a suicidal explosion attack.

I would recommend this game to people of all ages. So, for all those people who are reading this and think that they are interested in joining this game, please contact me!

A special moment I enjoyed with my family

26 January 2011

Phew! I just came back from pizza hut at the changi airport terminal 1. Today, my father has just came back from his business trip from bangkok. Me, my mum, my two sisters decided to go to the airport to fetch him. Upon reaching the airport, me and my sis suddenly felt really hungry so we decided to go to pizza hut to eat. We sent a message to our father who had just arrived at changi airport terminal 1 that we are going to pizza hut to eat to make sure he knows where we are.

Pizza hut seemed really crowded as there was a queue with about ten people lining up to go into that restaurant. I was really hungry at that time so i asked my mum if we could eat somewhere else, but my sis wanted to eat at pizza hut so we decided to queue. To my surprise, the queue lasted for less than 5 minutes!

After getting a seat in the restaurant, we immediately picked the menu and choose what we wanted to eat. As usual, Me and my sis choose the kids lasagna as I knew it tasted good from previous experiences. My youngest sis who is five years old this year, had already eaten her dinner at home so she did not need to eat anything here. My mum then choose a medium sized pizza for all of us to share as she knew that the kids lasagna wasn't enough for me and my sister.

Fifteen minutes later, the food was served and we ate like we haven't eaten for days. Just then, I heard a loud scream from my youngest sister " Papa!". I turned around and realised that my father had came. We all said hello to him and he sat beside me. We ordered another pan pizza and kids lasagna for my father. My father likes the kids lasagna too.

All of us continued to chat happily and I felt really happy and blessed to have a nice, caring, warm family. I enjoyed that dinner.

Something unusual that happened today

25 January 2011

Tuesday is one of the toughest days I have other than Thursdays, the reason is because I have lessons until 4pm and I still have to go for my cca at macritchie reservoir! Anyway, back to point. It was a very unusual day today. Like normal Tuesdays, I had 3 periods of home economics lesson. Like normal Tuesdays, my partner and I had to make a dish for my teacher to grade. Like normal days, we scored around 14 upon 15marks for my dish. So you might be asking yourself what was so unusual today? Me and my partner screwed up our cooking for the first time. "Didn't you score 14 upon 15marks for your dish?" some of you might ask. Yes, i did score 14 upon 15marks and that is the unusual thing.

We were supposed to make peanut butter cookies. Our home economics teacher, Ms Chan, explained to us clearly the methods and the ingredients to use for making our cookies. My partner and I both listened to the instructions carefully and we made sure we knew the steps before we started making the cookies.

Firstly, I took 4 heaped tablespoons of flour and sift it. After that, I took an egg, broke it, and started to beat the egg. At the same time, my partner went to take a block of butter, 2 heaped tablespoons of sugar and started to mix it with an electric mixer. Next, we added the egg some peanut butter to the mixture inside the electric mixer and took turns to mix it until the ingredients were well combined. Then, I added the flour, bit by bit into the mixture as my partner mixed the mixture. After adding all the flour and after the flour has been mixed well, my partner added a teaspoon of vanilla essence as i stired the mixture. My partner then went to take 2 baking trays and greased it with oil. When the mixture has been fully mixed, my partner used two teaspoons, scooped the mixture, shaped them into many tiny balls and lay them on the baking trays. I flattened them using a fork. Lastly, we put them in the oven and waited for fifteen minutes.

During those fifteen minutes, I went to talk to my other friends who have finished making their cookies. After fifteen minutes, my partner and I went to take the baking tray out of the oven and I realised that cookies on one of the tray were burned and the cookies on the other tray were half burned. I was astonished and i immediately went to tell my teacher. As soon as my teacher saw the cookies, she asked us why we did not check on them during those fifteen minutes and I kept quiet as I had nothing to say.

So how did we get the 14 marks upon 15? My teacher was kind enough. She took the half burned cookie and ate part of it. She said that it tasted good, and it would have tasted better if it was not burned. I was shocked as I did not expect her to taste the cookies and I expected her to give me something like a 5 marks upon 15. It was quiet weird as it was the first time I had burned something in the oven. My friends all kept staring at my cookies and they had a surprised look on their faces. Overall, I am glad that i had 14 upon 15 marks.

Next time, I'll remember to check on my food and not leave it alone.

SAA competition (A problem I encounted and how you solved or managed it)

24 January 2011

It is a monday night today and i am feeling really tired. The past few days i have been training really hard during my cca, cross country, and now all I want to do is lie down on my bed and go to sleep.

Two days ago, i had a SAA(Singapore Athletic Association competition) and i was very disappointed about my performance then. My position in this competition was 29 and i will have to train harder to solve this "problem" of me being at position 29 in order to help my school maintain the championship title for the C division boys during the nationals.

During this competition, I kept telling myself repeatedly that I had to hold on and not give up. "Think about your team, think about winning, think about the school. Would you want to give up just because your tired? You are trained for this so you had better give it your all." These type of thoughts kept on rushing through my mind as i was running. I felt frustrated and pressurized when competitors overtake me and sometimes irrational thoughts like "Why can't you just stay behind me and not overtake me?" rushes through my mind. I was breathless, tired, sore and my heart was racing. At times when I felt that my heart could not take the pressure anymore , there would be a war between the "angel" and the "devil". My body tells my mind to stop but my mind commands the body to go on.

Towards the end of the race, my body was worn out and I wanted to stop and rest very badly. This was a really big problem because if i stopped, my position would have dropped by alot, but when i saw the finishing line which was about 200 metres away, I told myself that this would be the last hurdle that I have to suffer so I should just give it my all. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me and I sprinted for the finishing line. Within this 200 metres, I managed to overtake five people! The number, five, in a race like this is a big number but I still ended up with a position of 29. Although I had gave this race my best, my best was not enough.

From now on, I will do my best, push myself to the limits, and solve the problem of not getting a good position in the next race that is coming up soon.

My Thoughts About Blogging

7 January 2011

I really don't know y im blogging. i hate blogging and im blogging for the sake of blogging. So here i am blogging on my blog for no reason. Wait, there is a reason. It's because i have an english project to do:blogging. I know you have seen the word blog so many times and u are probably tired of it, so just dont read on if you dont want to.

2 years back i told myself never ever ever ever to blog again because blogging is not fun and i do not like blogging. I think it is a waste of time and it is not getting me anywhere. For example, when i fail my exam, i start to blog about how i feel and how sad i am. It seems meaningful but... IT DOESNT GET ME ANYWHERE!!!(In life)

Long ago when i had created my own blog, i thought it was fun so i continued to decorate my blog but it gradually became very boring after a week. After that, I regretted my actions and I felt that those hours i spent on the com blogging could have been spent more meaningfully like playing computer games like Wolfteam and mousehunt, clicking my pen, staring at lamposts, playing chess, soccer and many more.

I might hate blogging but there is one thing i like. The games you can add to your blog!!! I love some of them. Still, overall, i think blogging waste my time and if i had a chance, i would never ever blog again.
